Keyword Elite 2.0 is a software tool for PPC- and SEO marketers that actually contains 8 different tools in one, which allow you to:
- Generate keyword lists.
- Research the competitiveness and profitability of your market and keywords.
- Identify profitable AdWords campaigns and to mirror them.
- Quickly and easily find profitable affiliate programs for your niche.
- Find those websites that are best suited for your content network campaigns… and more.
We'll take a closer look at the various tools further below.
I checked out several reviews on Keyword Elite 2.0 on different websites and
I found that many of them are extremely over-hyped. So, before we get
started I would like to make a few things clear:
- Keyword Elite 2 won't allow you to make any money just by clicking a few buttons and leaning back.
- It's not a miracle solution that will solve all your marketing problems.
- The tool isn't perfect, it also has some weaknesses.
- If you don't know anything about marketing on the internet and if you want to spend only half an hour a day on your campaigns, this tool (like any other tool) won't allow you to make any money.
However…
- If you are serious about PPC marketing (and/or SEO marketing) and if you understand that it takes a minimum amount of effort to make money online, this tool will help you a lot.
- It will take care of many boring, dull and time consuming work tasks for you.
- It will save you hours and hours of your time - and as you know, time is money.
- The software allows to automate many of those tasks that are crucial for every PPC- and SEO marketer.
If you are only running one single PPC campaign (for example, for your
personal product), you probably won't need this tool. I manage many
different PPC campaigns and I launch new ones almost on a weekly basis. On
top of that, I have several content sites that are optimized for the search
engines. So, as you can imagine I'm using Keyword Elite almost every day and
it saves me a lot of time.
If you are in a similar situation (or if you plan to be), Keyword Elite is
surely a great investment, and it will allow you to spend more time on
money-making marketing tasks and less time on those boring and
time-consuming tasks the tool can easily handle for you.
I would also like to mention that Keyword Elite comes with a really great
bonus package (especially for SEO marketers):
- You get the latest version of SEO Elite for free (the software still sells for $167).
- You get a fantastic video training course on search engine optimization. There are about 100 videos that teach you everything you need to know about SEO marketing.
- And there are some other great bonuses, like access to the monthly search
engine marketing reports, the private search marketing elite forum…
Ok, let's take a closer look at the different tools contained in KE 2.0:
This blog here is about PPC marketing, so I will only be focusing on the
various tools and functionalities that are interesting for PPC marketers.
More information can be found on the Keyword Elite 2.0 website
This is valid for all tools that are part of Keyword Elite 2.0, so I won't
repeat it in the tools discussion below: You can sort and filter by all
columns, you can send the selected terms directly to other Keyword Elite
tools, you can export the results, you can save all results and come back to
work on them later, you can copy, paste, delete… and much more.
Tool 1: Keyword Surge:
This tool allows you to create keyword lists. You enter a seed keyword,
select the databases/sources that should be searched (you can choose from:
Ask.com, Google Keyword Tool, Meta Tags, Keyword Elite Engine and Word
Tracker) and you select the maximum amount of keywords that should be
returned (between 100 and 10000).
After launching the search, the resulting keywords are displayed as in the
screenshot below (click on the image to zoom):
- You can sort and filter by all columns. For example, you can ask to display
only keywords that contain a specific word or phrase, or that have at least
1000 searches per month…
- You can automatically add a specific word (buy, review, info…) at the
beginning- or end of the selected keywords. You can remove unwanted
characters (&, $...) from all keywords.
- Keyword lists can be imported and exported as text file. You can also add
keywords to specific groups (Adgroups) and create negative keyword lists.
- Further, all selected keywords can easily be sent to the other tools that are discussed further below.
But careful, the tool will also return untargeted and unrelated keywords, so
you always should go through your list and delete unwanted terms before
adding them to your PPC campaign. It might also be a good idea to add some
of the unrelated terms to your negative keyword list.
Tool 2: Market Research Sleuth:
This tool allows you to analyze a list of keywords for the 3 big PPC search
engines (Google AdWords, Yahoo search Marketing and MSN Adcenter).
I use it for SEO- (to decide for which keywords to create SE Optimized
content pages) as well as PPC purposes.
Below is a screenshot of what an analysis might look like for a short
keyword list (click on the image to zoom):
The tool presents an overview of:
- The number of competing ads (running campaigns). If there are lots of
campaigns for a specific keyword, it could be fairly expansive to get your
as listed in the top 3 positions. So, depending on the commission I make on
a certain product I decide if it's worth (profitable) to bid on highly
competitive terms. On the other hand, if there are only a few campaigns or
none at all, this might be a sign that the specific keyword doesn't convert
into sales.
- The estimated number of Ad clicks on position #1: This indicates how much
traffic you can expect for a specific keyword. If you know your conversion
rate you can easily calculate the daily or weekly profit you can achieve
with a specific keyword.
- The estimated average cost per click. Does it make sense for you to bid on a
specific keyword? Again, if you are selling a $10 product and the keyword
you're bidding on costs $2 per click it will be impossible to make a profit.
- All ads (title, description and URL's) that are currently being displayed for the selected keyword. This is very helpful to get ideas for your own ads and landing pages from sites that are already successful.
There are other parameters, but they are mainly interesting for SEO
marketers.
Tool 3: AdWords Time Machine:
This tool is absolutely amazing and for me, this tool alone is worth the
money of the
entire package.
The AdWords Time Machine provides you with an overview of all ads your
competitors were running over the past 6 months. Now, as you can imagine,
there are highly skilled PPC marketers that make a lot of money and there
are less skilled advertisers (with poorly written ads and landing pages) who
loose a lot of money.
What you want to do is to find out what the big guns are doing to make
money, you want to study and emulate their ads and landing pages and you
also want to know what are the other keywords they are bidding on, because
these are most probably high converting keywords that are very profitable.
Now, this tool allows you to get all this information. Below is a screenshot
of an analysis I did for the term "learn guitar" (click on the image to
zoom):
In the upper part you can see a list of all ads that were run over the past
6 months. When you click on the magnifying glass on the left, you get a list
of all other keywords (along with their corresponding ads) this advertiser
is targeting (see bottom part of the screen).
The blue squares on the left of the upper screen indicate which months a
specific advertiser was running ads on the selected keyword. For certain
advertisers, there is only one blue square. This might mean that the person
tried to enter the market, lost some money (because of poor ads and landing
pages…) and gave up.
For other advertisers you might have 6 blue squares and this means he is
advertising for already at least 6 means, so this person must be making some
money. These are the kind of advertisers you should focus on when you are
looking for inspiration for your own ads and landing pages, because these
are the successful marketers.
So, here is what you could do: You identify a successful advertiser, you
copy/paste all of his keywords, you get some inspiration from his ads and
landing pages and you launch your own campaign. No second guessing - you
simply skip through weeks and even months of testing and tracking (although
I highly recommend you still do your testing and tracking - even great
results can still be improved). As a result you get a campaign that's most
probably profitable right from the beginning - up and running within a few
hours.
Tool 4: Search Engine Dominator - this is a SEO tool, so I won't discuss it here.
Tool 5: AdWords Competition Sniper:
This module is sort of an extension of the AdWords Time Machine, but
honestly I don't use it a lot. The competition sniper allows you to spy on
your competitors and it tells you for how many days the targeted advertiser
has been bidding on a specific keyword.
So, the theory hers is, that if a competitor is bidding long enough on
certain keywords, he is probably making money with them. On the other hand,
if he stops bidding on certain keywords after only a few days, it's because
he's probably losing money.
In short, this tool should allow you to pick and bid only on keywords with a
high profit potential and to avoid the losers. Honestly, I'm not really
convinced of the usefulness of this tool.
Tool 6: Advanced Google Site Targeter:
This is an extremely useful tool if you are running campaigns on the content
network (which is cheaper and might work better for certain
niches/keywords). You simply provide a list of keywords and this tool
provides you with a list of websites that display AdSense Ads.
After only a few seconds of research, the tool returns for each keyword you
provided a list of very useful parameters for each returned website, like:
- The page rank on the search engine results page
- The URL of the site
- The Google Domain PR
- The Alexa Page Rank - this parameter indicates the amount of traffic the site is getting
- The WHOIS information of the website - this allows you to easily contact the site owner for JV's, partnerships…
In short, this tool allows you to quickly research a list of high traffic
websites that correspond with your niche and that display AdSense ads. Now
all you need to do is to copy/paste these URL's into your AdWords Content
Network campaign. Also, this tool provides an easy way to identify JV
partners.
Below is a screenshot of what the returned search results look like (click
on the image to zoom):
Tool 7: JV Diamond Miner:
This tool is very similar to the Advanced Google Site Targeter. The big
difference is that it searches websites that build a mailing list. If you
are selling a product you can contact website owners (with possibly huge
mailing lists) and propose a joint venture. Honestly, I rarely use this
tool.
Tool 8: CPU Magnet:
I think this is again a very useful tool. You provide a specific keyword
that corresponds with your niche and the tool returns a list of the highest
paying affiliate programs that relate directly to your niche.
Currently, CPU Magnet searches about 13000 different offers on 40 different
CPA and affiliate networks.
The following parameters are returned:
- Name, description and URL of the affiliate offer
- The amount of the commission payout
- The amount of the lead generation payout (if there is one)
- The commission percentage
Below is a screenshot of what a typical search result looks like (click on

Conclusion:
All in all, I think Keyword Elite 2.0 is a great tool. It makes many SEO-
and PPC related work tasks much easier, it allows you to collect data and
information from your competitors you wouldn't be able to get without this
tool, and there is no doubt: this tool will save you a lot of time – and as
we all know, time well invested (in crucial marketing tasks) is money in
your pocket.
However, don't be fooled: Keyword Elite isn't some sort of miraculous tool
that will make you money day and night. A minimum amount of time and effort
is still required to take maximum advantage of all the benefits this tool
provides.
Don't forget, Keyword Elite is just a tool – it makes things easier, it
saves you time… but it's not intelligent – this ingredient still needs to
come from you and therefore you need to make sure to learn and understand at
least the basics of PPC marketing.
The price of $197 seems a bit high at first, but on the other hand, this
tool (as well as the additional bonus tools and products) also provides an
amazing amount of data, market and competitor insights… which you should be
able to turn into dollars fairly easy.
